Finance can be used towards eligible measures such as solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps, insulation and other qualifying energy-efficiency improvements, subject to eligibility, affordability and approval.

The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is a government-backed initiative designed to make finance for home energy improvements more affordable. It works through participating lenders, using government support to help reduce the cost of borrowing for eligible home upgrades.
Eligible technologies include solar PV, electrical battery storage and qualifying low-carbon heating systems such as air-to-water and ground source heat pumps. Scheme rules set specific eligibility requirements and finance limits for each technology.
Yes. Solar PV is an eligible technology under the published scheme rules, with eligible lending capped at £15,000 for solar PV. The amount actually available to you will depend on the participating lender, your project and lending criteria.
Yes. Electrical battery storage is included as an eligible technology, with a published scheme loan cap of £15,000. Eligibility and the final finance offered remain subject to the lender's requirements.
Eligible air-to-water source heat pumps can be supported. The published loan cap is £20,000 before any applicable Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is deducted. Specific eligibility conditions apply
The published rules allow eligible heat-pump customers to use the Warm Homes Loan Scheme alongside applicable Boiler Upgrade Scheme support, subject to the requirements of both schemes.
The scheme is being developed to support home retrofit through participating lenders. Customers will still need to meet the relevant lender's eligibility, affordability and lending requirements, so approval should never be presented as guaranteed.
